Total waste around the world is enormous. Some of it is recycled but a large quantity is simply dumped, causing problems to people and the environment.
Every year we dump a massive 2.12 billion tons of waste. This stunning amount of waste is partly because 99 percent of the stuff we buy is trashed within 6 months.

At La Bontazza we try to keep waste as minimal as possible by doing something good for our environment every day. It is important for everyone to know how we can change our lifestyle, starting with small adjustments to everyday habits.

Many items found around the home can be used for different purposes. So before you throw those items away, think about how they can be reused. Below are some suggestions of how to reuse those everyday bits and pieces.
Carrier bags. Carrier bags can be reused in the shops or as bin bags around the house. Paper bags can be reused as wrapping paper.
Jars and pots. By cleaning glass jars and small pots, you can use them as small containers to store food, small items like hair ties or buttons or as a flower vase.
Newspaper. Use as a packing material when moving house or to store items. It can also make pretty cool gift wrap.
Scrap paper. Can be used to make notes and sketches. Don’t forget to recycle it when you no longer need it.
Used wood. Can be used in woodcrafts for making objects such as a spice rack or a bird table. Alternatively it could be used as firewood.
Packaging Such as foil and egg cartons can be donated to schools and child care centers, where they can be use in art and craft projects.

These are just some of the ways that you can reuse products you buy. Every time you buy something from the market think of a way to reuse it.
